Here is how we will run time and score the matches for all ages.
1 minute regulation period
30 second overtime
10 second sudden death
Push out – 1 point
Clean takedown to control – 2 pts
Takedown to back (throws to flat on back with control) Automatic victory
First person to 5 points during regulation and /or overtime wins. All points are zeroed out for sudden death, first points wins. If after sudden death there is still a tie, bout goes to bottom of list to be wrestled again.
K-4 will wrestle on 3 mats and 5-8 will wrestle on 2 mats. Also, please keep in mind, all of our staff are volunteers. Referees and table workers will be High School wrestlers and coaches.
One period lasting 60 seconds followed by a 30 second overtime (if needed) and a 10 second sudden death (if needed). If there is no clear winner at the end of sudden death, cards will be placed back at the bottom of the pile, and the match will be wrestled again.
Injury time in the form of 1 minute will be assessed at the request of the affected wrestler/coach or may begin at the direction of the referee. At the end of the 1 minute, the wrestler or coach will be required to make a decision. Either the wrestler will immediately continue, the wrestler will withdraw from competition, or the wrestler will be able to have the bout moved to the bottom of the pile to re-wrestle. If the bout is moved, the same score, and time will be placed back on the scoreboard and clock when the match comes back up. If the injured wrestler cannot continue when the match comes back up, he/she will be removed from the competition via forfeit.
Blood time can be requested by the coach or wrestler affected as well as applied by the match referee. It will also run for 1 minute, however, if the bleeding lasts the whole 1 minute due to getting control or cleaning up, a 1 minute injury time session may then be implemented and then the decision for returning will be assessed as with injury time.
